* Well, maybe.......
I've always been impressed with food shoppers who save their coupons, check the supermarket flyers and get a shopping cart full of food for $20.00 or so. Don't believe me?

It's really true. I've seen TV segments on these savvy shoppers or read about them in a magazine or two.
I always wondered how much time it takes to get these fabulous savings and could the average person really do it?
Since I've been home it's been a goal of mine to at least attempt to shop with coupons but I haven't quite gotten around to it. But one thing I've noticed since I've actually started to look at my receipts is that there are all kinds of gimmicks available and I'd like to alert you to them
A SAMPLING OF THE STORES:
- MICHAELS: The craft store has a great deal going...if you buy an item or items, your receipt has an offer for 40% off for one item on your next purchase. This has probably been going on for a while and I could kick myself that I never noticed the discount before. They are time sensitive so yo have to keep that in mind.
- STOP & SHOP: Using the shoppers cards issued for free by the store garners you membership in the Milk and sandwich Rewards program. I wasn't sure what that was since I had very few points toward it so I looked it up on their website. When you buy 6 gallons of milk you get the 7th one free. It doesn't say if a coupon pops out, or if the 7th one just scans free. That's all the information they give out. I couldn't find anything about The sandwich rewards but will ask the next time I'm in the store. There are also mentions about free gas and free antibiotics. Check it out! Here's their website: http://www.stopandshop.com/savings/index.htm?opco=SNS
- TJ MAXX: If you visit the TJ Maxx website you can enter a monthly drawing for a $500 gift card. Check out: www.tjmaxxfeedback.com
- HOME DEPOT: Visit their website, fill out a survey and be entered in a drawing for a $5000 gift card. Not sure how often they draw a winner but the web address is www.homedepot.com/opinion
- TARGET: If you log onto Target's website and tell them about your shopping experience for a chance to win $5000. gift card. www.Target.com/survey. You'll need your receipt with a user I.D and password and you can also do this at a kiosk at the store if you prefer. One winner per month from May through end of October!
- PANERA: Tell Panera (www.panerasurvey.com) how they're doing for a chance to win $2000. in a monthly drawing or call 1.877.467.8436 within 48 hours of eating there.
- PATHMARK: www.pathmark.com will save you more using Pathmark's Online Advantage. Not sure what that means but will check it out.
- MACY'S: Not much on the receipt other than telling Macy's how your sales associate did I think they get rewarded) but there was a mention for a free Clinique gift if you spent $21.50 on a Clinique purchase. www.macys.com/tellus
Here's a Q&A I found online about this very subject in case you were wondering if all of this is bogus:
Q. Has anyone here ever won one of those receipt survey giveaways?
Walgreens has them printed on every receipt....take a brief survey and get a chance to win $3,000.
Best Buy still has them I think and its $300.
Just used my Discovercard (at Walgreens) and one of my receipts printed out saying I was just entered in a chance to win a $1 million dollar contest by using my discover card.
Walmart locally has surveys printed on their receipts saying I could win a $5,000 shopping card...
The Lottery or scratchcard worth talking about?
Anyone know anyone who ever has won any of these or anything like it? I'm not talking a rifle and the Skeet Club...I'm looking for the ones which seem more like marketing ploys than actual "chances."
Or are all these things full of crap?
A. FWIW...I spent a month once entering every (reputable) online instant win sweepstakes I could find. I didn't have a job and had nothing but time, so every day I'd enter about 30 or so contests - probably took a hour to an hour and a half. I won the following:
Sony PS2 (sold on eBay)
Remote controlled car
Coffee Maker
$10 iTunes gift Card
$10 Old Navy Card
4 T-shirts
2 hats
500 piece puzzle
Stuffed animal
Lots of coupons for free food items
Assorted crap - key chains, small plastic toys etc.
I think this was the site I used:

I won the PS2 in the first week. If it wasn't for that I probably would have given up a lot quicker - it's very tedious. The email account I used for all of it still gets slammed with spam 3 years later. Also had to give out my address and phone number a lot, but that didn't seem to result in anything bad, although I'd use a Google Voice number if I were to do this now.
